About Alta Ares
Alta Ares is a deeptech startup founded in 2024, building real-time AI for defense operations (ISR, C-UAS). Our primary clients are NATO-aligned militaries, with regular deployments during live exercises. Raised €2M pre-seed in May 2025 Products include:
- Real-time AI ISR module deployable on drones and tactical platforms
- Counter-UAS solution enabling autonomous drone takeover under GNSS-denied environment
- Full-stack MLOps platform for training & deploying military-grade AI models

Position details

- Reports to: CEO
- Contract: permanent
Role & Mission
Business Development & Sales
- Identify, qualify, and develop new defense business opportunities in the UK
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline with MoDs, armed forces, primes, and integrators
- Position Alta Ares’ ISR, C-UAS, autonomy, and AI solutions to operational and procurement stakeholders
- Support negotiations and long-terme commercial relationships
Partnerships & Defense Ecosystem
- Build and coordinate partnerships with primes, system integrators, and technical partners
- Contribute to consortium building for NATO and UK MoD
- Engage with government entities and defense institutions to promote Alta Ares's capabilities
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Support preparation of tenders, proposals, and funded programs alongside engineering and finance teams
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to inform strategy and growth
- Translate strategic objectives into a structured and actionable opportunity pipeline
Representation & Field Engagement
- Represent Alta Ares at international defense trade shows, exhibitions, and partner meetings
- Participate in on-site meetings, demonstrations, and operational workshops with customers
Candidate profile
Education & Experience
5–8+ years of experience in defense business development, defense sales, public sector consulting, or institutional partnerships
- Graduate degree in Business, International Relations, Security Studies, Engineering, or equivalent
- Prior experience within defense companies, system integrators, defense-focused consulting firms, or working closely with MoDs, armed forces, or NATO entities
- Demonstrated exposure to UK defense ecosystem (UK MoD, NATO, primes, integrators, agencies)
Required Skills & Qualities
- Strong understanding of defense procurement processes and long sales cycles
- Ability to engage senior military officers, government officials, and defense industry executives
- Experience supporting or leading defense tenders and complex multi-stakeholder programs
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with high autonomy and ownership
- Structured, proactive working style with willingness to travel internationally
Languages & Compliance
- English: Professional fluency required
- Additional European languages appreciated
- Eligibility for defense-related programs and high level of discretion required
Nice to Have
- Existing network within the UK and NATO defense ecosystem
- Familiarity with NATO and multinational defense programs
- Technical or engineering background
- Experience in a fast-growing defense or deeptech startup
