About Alta Ares

Alta Ares is a deeptech startup founded in 2024, building real-time AI for defense operations (ISR, C-UAS). Our primary clients are NATO-aligned militaries, with regular deployments during live exercises. Raised €2M pre-seed in May 2025 Products include:
  • Real-time AI ISR module deployable on drones and tactical platforms
  • Counter-UAS solution enabling autonomous drone takeover under GNSS-denied environment
  • Full-stack MLOps platform for training & deploying military-grade AI models
  • Data fusion and trajectory prediction

Position details

  • Location: Paris, France, with regular travel to testing sites, operational theaters, partner locations, and NATO countries
  • Reports to: Head of Product Hardware / Engineering
  • Position objective: Lead the integration of radar systems into Alta Ares’ counter-drone ecosystem, ensuring operationally effective detection and tracking capabilities across all platforms, and supporting field deployment and system optimization in operational theaters.
  • Contract: Full-time, permanent position (CDI)

Role & Mission

As Radar Engineer, you will lead the integration of radar systems into Alta Ares' counter-drone ecosystem. You will work on integrating various radar technologies (ground-based, drone-mounted, mobile) with our Ground Control Station (GCS), C2 systems, and drone platforms to create comprehensive detection and tracking solutions for counter-UAS operations.

Your responsibilities:

Radar Integration & Development

  • Integrate diverse radar systems into Alta Ares' product ecosystem (GCS, C2, drone platforms)
  • Evaluate and select radar technologies for different operational scenarios
  • Interface radar data with AI/ML detection and tracking systems
  • System Architecture & Integration
  • Design integration architectures between radars, C2 systems, and GCS
  • Ensure real-time data processing and low-latency target tracking
  • Create standardized integration frameworks for multiple radar vendors
  • Implement data fusion between radar and other sensors (RF, EO/IR, acoustic)

Performance Optimization

  • Conduct radar performance testing and validation in various environments
  • Optimize detection ranges, false alarm rates, and tracking accuracy
  • Develop ECCM (Electronic Counter-Counter Measures) capabilities
  • Analyze operational data to improve detection algorithms
  • Adapt systems for challenging environments (urban, maritime, mountainous)

Field Testing & Deployment

  • Support radar deployment and integration in operational theaters
  • Conduct field testing and performance validation
  • Troubleshoot integration issues in operational conditions

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Hardware teams on radar mounting and platform integration

Collaborate with Software/AI teams on data processing and fusion

Candidate profile

  • 5+ years in radar engineering, radar integration, or related field
  • Proven experience with radar systems and testing
  • Background in defense, aerospace, or surveillance systems
  • Experience with multiple radar technologies
  • Hands-on experience with radar data processing and tracking algorithms is a plus

Nice to Have

  • Experience with C-UAS or counter-drone operations
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-based detection and tracking systems
